watchers, as well as fishing, sailing, and a beautiful environment with a spectacular

The Atlantic Ocean is a source of sea salt, while the Benguela current comes from the Antarctic. Our pristine ±400-year-old brine is pumped from an underground seawater lake (Aquifer) – at the Velddrift Salt Works, where the seawater filters through beds of sand and shell, providing additional calcium. This pure brine sets us apart from all other salt producers in the world and has a distinctive and memorable taste. Khoisan Sea Salt’s latest test results have been carried out by Peter Johnson Laboratories, and no pollution or microplastic particles were found during testing.
Industrial salt manufacturers produce 99.9% Sodium Chloride, containing added chemical agents to keep salt dry and free-flowing. Their vacuum pan systems, mechanical harvesting, boilers, and crushers have the highest carbon footprints, and their manufacturing process uses a high amount of electricity or gas. Khoisan Trading has a low carbon footprint due to its natural, organically processed sea salt products and its organic certified
by-product gypsum, which are manufactured using solar and wind energy and are unrefined and hand-harvested traditionally.

Khoisan Sea Salt is pure and natural. Its higher calcium content gives it a distinctive taste, and it contains as many as 82 trace minerals and essential micronutrients. If these 82 trace minerals were left as they occur naturally in sea salt, salt would fulfil its vital role in enhancing life and maintaining optimum health. Khoisan’s Natural Sea Salts are available in different varieties: fine, Coarse, fleur de sel, and Salt Flakes. All these varieties are traditionally harvested by hand at the salt pans located on the property of Velddrif Salt Works. These salt pans are leased from Velddrif Salt Company and are managed by well-trained Khoisan Staff. In addition to the Natural Sea Salt range, Khoisan Salt produces a unique soil additive –Gold Dust.
Gold Dust is a blend of Gypsum and Seaweed. Khoisan offers a soil additive product, Gold Dust, made from Gypsum and Seaweed. This registered organic fertilizer is sold to nurseries as nutrition for sandy and clay soils.
Khoisan Trading Company (Pty) Ltd incorporates strict quality assurance procedures in its production. We are compliant with an internationally recognized food safety system, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), whose requirements include Good Management Practices over Critical Control Points certifying safe food products hold no risk in terms of contamination and safety. Khoisan’s sea salts are also Kosher compliant.
